This is an offshore wind farm in the Oresund, which is 3.5 km away from Copenhagen, Denmark. It was built in the year 2000 and was the world’s largest offshore wind farm, with 20 turbines and a capacity of 40 MW. Its 20 turbines are well equipped with a rotor, having a diameter of 76 m; standing 64 m above the water from an arc with a length of 3.4 km. Denmark government is planning to satisfy 40 percent of its electricity needs with the help of wind energy by the year 2030.
This farm is owned partly by the utility Energi E2 and partly by cooperative members. This farm generates more than 3 % of the electricity used in Copenhagen. The original project was for 27 wind turbines placed in three rows but due to the criticism; the farm layout was changed to a slightly curved line and the number of turbines had to be decreased to 20.
