Old Windmill

Old Windmill is situated in Wickham Park of Australia. It is located on the Wickham terrace in Spring Hill of Queensland and Brisbane region of Australia. The traditional (heritage) notice depicts that Old Windmill is the oldest existing building in Queensland area of Australia. Old Windmill was constructed around 1820 and was utilized by convicts to grind grains such as maize and wheat. The treadmill was used for grinding with the wind powered sails during 1828.

In May 1840, after the assassination of two men of a surveying party near Mount Lindesay, three Aboriginal men were arrested. Later in July 1841, the two living Aborigines were hanged from a beam from an upper window of the Old Windmill. The Old Windmill turned into the first home of the Queensland museum on 20 January 1862. This Windmill was later utilized as a weather observatory and a signal tower.

During the end of the 19th century, this windmill was encased in a cementrender to safeguard the masonry and brick from rainwater damage. The Old Windmill also conducted television trials in 1920s and 1940s.
