Crookwell Wind Farm

Crookwell wind farm is situated at Crookwell town in the west direction of Goulburn city of popular state New South Wales in Australia. Crookwell wind farm was built by Pacific Power in 1998 and was the first grid- connected wind farm in Australia. During that time it was the biggest wind farm in Australia. Crookwell wind farm consists of eight turbines, each having a height of 45 meters and rotors having a diameter of more than 44 meters. Each turbine possesses a capacity of 600kW of power and a total generation of 4.8MW of power. The total power output of 4.8 Mega Watts is enough to meet the average electricity demand of around 4,000 homes.

Crookwell wind farm produces electricity by saving around 80,000 tonnes of harmful carbon dioxide emission. Crookwell town was selected for the construction of wind farm due to its good flow of wind.

Old Windmill

Old Windmill is situated in Wickham Park of Australia. It is located on the Wickham terrace in Spring Hill of Queensland and Brisbane region of Australia. The traditional (heritage) notice depicts that Old Windmill is the oldest existing building in Queensland area of Australia. Old Windmill was constructed around 1820 and was utilized by convicts to grind grains such as maize and wheat. The treadmill was used for grinding with the wind powered sails during 1828.

In May 1840, after the assassination of two men of a surveying party near Mount Lindesay, three Aboriginal men were arrested. Later in July 1841, the two living Aborigines were hanged from a beam from an upper window of the Old Windmill. The Old Windmill turned into the first home of the Queensland museum on 20 January 1862. This Windmill was later utilized as a weather observatory and a signal tower.

Snow Town Windmills

Snowtown wind farm is situated along the Barunga Ranges and Hummock, in the west direction of Snowtown in the Mid- North of Southern Australia. It is located around 170 km north of Adelaide, South Australia. The Barunga Range is typically rounded, treeless and lies in the direction of the popular westerly winds and hence was considered as an outstanding site for the construction of wind farm.

The Snowtown wind farm was owned by Trust Power who have constructed and commissioned 47 Suzlon wind turbines. Hon Mike Rann, Premier of South Australia officially opened the site on 2nd November 2008. Suzlon Energy Australia Pty. Ltd. constructed the first stage of the Snowtown wind farm in 2008. The creation of 44 m turbine blade in the town centre started acting as a positive tourist attraction. Snowtown wind farm project has benefited the local community in many ways
